Crossing a new threshold, a collision, & Christmas

On Thursday we went to sign the insurance paperwork and got slightly lost before we called our agent and asked for directions. Our insurance agent is awesome! As soon as we met him we both agreed it was like we'd known him since college. When we have our house warming party, he's definitely going to be on the invite list. And it was a good thing he was such a nice guy, because "we" locked the keys in the truck. While our agent ran to his house to grab some tools, he passed a state trooper friend of his and asked him to swing by the office and assist us. Within minutes of the trooper showing up, he jimmied the lock open and we were on our way to meet our real estate agent for the final walk through.
We got to the house and found a few minor things we want the builder to take a look at before we signed the early occupancy paperwork. Our agent handed us the keys and it was official! We had a few more bank things to handle before we went home to pack. The next day, Christmas Eve, we took the boys to the house for the first time. They loved it! We spent the day cleaning up the remaining construction dust and unpacking a few boxes. After we got the house cleaned up, we left to spend the evening with my parents. We borrowed my brother's trailer to move the outdoor furniture so when we got home Kyle asked me to move the company truck so he could back it in the driveway. I was standing beside our truck talking to Kyle, when I got spooked and threw the door open only to collide my forehead into it.

I managed to climb into the truck and immediately placed my head in my hands and sobbed in pain. Kyle was trying to calm me down before asking me to lift my head to see if I was bleeding. When I finally lifted my head I looked down to see my hands covered in blood as well as the towel that had been laying over the console of the truck. When I saw all the blood, I freaked and Kyle immediately started putting pressure on the wound. Eventually when the bleeding stopped, I staggered into the house and laid down with an ice pack on my head. Needless to say, it hurt!
Kyle later told me he saw the whole thing happen in slow motion and was so scared, which is hard to do to him. He said seeing me hurt, made him realize how much he loved me. He told me this morning even with the cut, I was beautiful. It made for a conversation piece Christmas morning with the family. Our Christmas was wonderful and yet again, my parents went above and beyond. Our scavenger hunt this year was a little different since my parents decided to make it boys against girls. My sis-in-law and I would have won, if it hadn't been for the boys locking us out of the house! The hunt is by far our favorite part of the holidays! And of course we loved seeing our oldest niece and nephew enjoying their gifts.
We were planning to purchase all the plantation blinds for the house today, but due to the snow, we have to wait till tomorrow. As long as the roads are clear, we hope to pay off the fridge, hang the blinds, and move as much as we can tomorrow. Looking forward to getting the moving done and enjoying our new home!
