side effects galore

I thought hot flashes were supposed to happen during menopause and the patches were designed to reduce them. I could always blame cleaning, especially vacuuming to bring a hot flash on, but now they sneak up on me at any time. Speak of the devil...

My favorite side effect has to be the never ending headache I've had since Thursday. I was hoping it would gradually diminish after being on the patches for a few days, but it's still lingering.

Last night I pulled out the information packet on the estrogen patches to double check something and I stumbled across the first paragraph concerning the increase in cancer and heart attacks. The patches are intended to be used once every two weeks. I've been instructed to use between 2 to 4 every other day. I can't help but think what the future might hold. I could possibly become a mother only to be diagnosed with uterine cancer. Maybe I'm thinking into it too much, but reading the warnings and knowing what could potentially happen medically is very scary.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. One because I'm not much of a complainer and two because this process could be so worth it in the end. But for me right now, it's reality.

Meeting with the notary Thursday and then we wait!
