3 down....60 more to go

Just when you think you have everything figured out. The dates were set and everything was in order to start the IVF. One day while on the phone with someone I glanced over at my calendar and realized I had forgotten to start the first drug called Lupron. I called my drs. office and that's when everything got changed.

I was supposed to start the daily Lupron injections on the 10th and finish the birth control pills on the 13th. So the dr. decided to keep me on birth control pills for another week and start the Lupron on the 12th. We wouldn't know if this plan was going to work until I had my daily blood draws and internal ultrasounds in a couple of weeks. Both the pills and Lupron are suppressing hormones so my body will be ready to start stimulation in a few weeks. The orginal plan was for Kyle to inject me before he left for work. So my only option was for me to inject myself. I got out the directions, prepped the vial and my abdomen and attempted to stink the needle in. I tried 4 more times, but to no avail. I chickened out and remembered my mom, a nurse, would be picking up my niece from school that day and would be close by. I called her and she headed my way.

I can't say it didn't hurt. It did! But then again I have a pain tolerance of negative 10. The injections have to be given at the same time each day, so we've been getting up at 6am for the fun event. Now that I've had three injections, I think it's getting a little easier each time, but it still hurts. Those insulin needles aren't short enough! I'm not looking forward to going from these little subcutaneous injections to the intramuscular ones, but I keep telling myself, it will be all worth it in the end.
