Alright enough of the mushy stuff. If our nephew had been born first, our niece would have never happened. I've been babysitting since I was 10 and have taken care of every age from 2 weeks to 14 years. Experience isn't the issue, my nephew is! He is full speed at all times and keeps you on your toes. Not the average toddler by any means.
The glowing red eyes and mischievous grin should have been my warning signs that morning
I had some errands to run yesterday so I jumped in the shower while my nephew was locked in the bathroom with me. When I got out, he went down the hall towards the living room. I was finishing slapping on lotion only seconds later, before I went to hunt for him. I found him crouched over a soy candle dipping his "bappy" (aka pacifier) in the jar. At this point he was only wearing a diaper since I was getting ready to put his clothes on him. He was covered in soot from nose to toes! After extensive scrubbing with every possible cleaning product I could get my hands on in the bathroom, he was clean again. I finished getting dressed and we were out the door.
We ran our errands and came home to play outside. We went inside for lunch and while I was cleaning up, I went looking for my little redhead. I found him "sniffing" a candle in the dining room, or so I thought. When I took the candle from him to place it back, I realized he had taken 2 bites out of the side! To the kitchen we went to remove the remains from his mouth. The boy has a thing for candles.

Fast forward a few hours. No nap was in this boy's future despite my best efforts, so back outside we went to play. I decided to take a quick potty break so I let my little monster loose while I left the door open to the bathroom. Silence was all I heard. I started looking for him and found him on the bed with the phone to his ear. I listened to the phone to be sure he hadn't dialed 911 and heard a ringtone. A soon as I turned the phone off, I heard the answering machine start beeping. How? The phone hadn't rung. I listen to the message and hear the pleasant mumblings of my lil devil-phew and beeps of the buttons pushed by his innocent little fingers. I don't know how he managed to call the house and leave a message.
4:00 couldn't have come sooner as his Mimi, Daddy, and Uncle Kyle all arrived home and happily smoothered their favorite boy with hugs and kisses. But for some reason he still wanted me to be in my arms; I think it was his way of apologizing for his trouble making day. I still love his little butt to pieces and can't wait till tomorrow when we get to spend the day together...taped to the couch.
