A few of our favorite things...

Since we've had ample time to think about all things baby, we know what we want when our time finally comes. We've had our names picked for a long time. The only problem with that is other people have had the opportunity to use them first. We also know that we don't want to find out the gender until the baby arrives. So with that decision, we knew planning the nursery would be a unique challenge. The spare room in our house is the only room that has yet to be painted and for a very good reason. We both want a soothing and peaceful gender neutral nursery without a theme. We are looking forward to the day the decorating can begin!

We're big on anything made on the USA and we don't have a problem investing in something that will last. We definitely want heirloom furniture that is solid wood. Searching high and low, I found Land of Nod, which is the children's line from Crate and Barrel. We are quite fond of their espresso sleigh crib made of solid maple.
When Restoration Hardware came out with their children's line last year, I had my heart set on the silver sage bedding. But after reading so many complaints about the variations in color, I decided to explore some other options. While I'm still undecided about the Silver Sage bedding at RH Baby & Child, we're considering painting the walls that color.
A while back I discovered a company that makes fabulous baby bedding. While I don't mind the price attached to high quality bedding, I can't quite fathom the idea of spending just under $1000 for it. After all, it will get "dirty." Despite the price, I'm quite taken with a bedding set by Serena and Lily. I will just have to admire from afar. Sigh...
If only all these catalogs (yes I admit, Land of Nod & RH Baby and Child catalogs land in my mailbox) and websites sold babies to come with all the beautiful things that belong in a nursery. We can still dream though...
