For Sold

We're still trying to figure out exactly how it happened, but we're pretty happy it did. Our realtor called to say he had shown the house and the buyer liked it so much she put in an offer the same day. We did a little negotiating for a few days before we settled on an offer everyone was happy with. Amazingly our house was only on the market for 77 days. The buyer saw it online and set the process in motion. Apparently she loved the paint & landscaping. I knew all those hours I spent in the yard and staring at paint samples would one day pay off. As happy as we are that someone super nice is purchasing our first home, it's bittersweet. Now we can cross dual homeowners and sellers off our bucket list. And to add to our good fortune, a few weeks ago we received the title to our truck. In the 6 years that we've been married, this is the first land vehicle we've paid off. We had a bad habit of buying new cars and trading them in a few years later. Now that we own both the truck and jetski, it's nice to know we only have one year left on my car and the Harley. Then I'm thinking the Audi I've wanted since I was a young girl will be the next purchase. Maybe a 30th birthday present?! I'm sure Kyle would be happy to oblige.

Following the advice from someone also in the process of selling a house, we placed a statue of St. Joseph (the patron saint of selling a home) in the other house in hopes of it working. I firmly believe praying to St. Joseph was the true reason we are handing over the keys. Within just a week and a half after St. Joseph arrived, we had the offer. There are several homes for sale in our old neighborhood including the one right across the street. The buyer could have chosen any other house, yet she picked ours and hung in there through the negotiations. You just can't make this kind of stuff up!

It's crazy how nicely things have come together. Owning two houses seemed at first a daunting task, but after looking at the math, it was completely feasible for us. I worried very little about carrying the costs of both homes and before I knew it we got the news we'd be a mortgage less. I think back to the post from several months ago about letting go of my worries and control and enjoying the course my life took. I was busy enjoying life while the pieces were once again fitting together with ease.

I need to research a patron saint for adoption.

Life is good and I know it can only get better!
